How to Start:
You can start the program by clicking the desktop icon, or by using Start > Programs. The first time you run CQPhone, your permanent CQPhone number is assigned to your computer and appears on the telephone. The "Auto start in tray" option under Menu > Program Peferences ensures that CQPhone is automatically started and listening for incoming calls whenever your computer is booted up.
How to Close:
The "X" at the top right corner is not truly a close button. When you click this "X", CQPhone minimizes to the tray icon at the bottom right of your screen. However, the program continues to listen for incoming calls. In order to completely close the program, right click the tray icon and select "Exit Program". HINT: If you have any problems with CQPhone, completely close it then restart it.
How to Call Someone:
CQPhone works similar to a real telephone.
| 1. | Click the red Hook button.

| 2. | Dial a 7 digit CQPhone number (or click a name on the redial list).
|
| 3. | Wait for someone to pick up at the other end.
|
| 4. | Begin talking and/or typing.
|
How to Answer an Incoming Call:
When you hear the phone ringing...
| 1. | Click the red Hook button.
|
| 2. | Begin talking and/or typing.
|
|
|
| 1. | Click the green Hook button.
|
|
|
| 1. | Click the blue eyeball "Open Video" button to open the video window.
|
| 2. | If you have a web cam, click "Send Video".
|
| (HINT: If you open this video window while not in a call, you can video chat with yourself to test your web cam.)
|
|
|
| How to Meet New People:
|
| 1. | Click the blue "Open Chat List" button to open the chat list window.
|
| 2. | Enter the nickname you wish to use.
|
| 3. | The chat list shows the names of people waiting for a chat.
|
| 4. | Click a name to call someone, or wait for someone to click your name.
|
| 5. | Click the "Refresh" button peiodically to update your view of the chat list. This list does not auto-refresh.
|
|
|
| NOTE:
|
| · | When you meet people on this list, they do not see your CQPhone number and you will not see their number.
|
| · | When you close this list, your name is removed and nobody can call you unless they know your CQPhone number.
|
|
|
| CAUTION:
|
| · | Be careful who you give your number to because they will always be able to call you once they know your number.
|
| · | Please be careful about giving personal information to strangers.
|
| · | The chat list should not be used by children, except under adult supervision.
|
How to Send Photos:
There are two ways to send photos:
1. Open a folder on your hard drive then drag-and-drop picture files onto CQPhone.
2. Use the CQPhone > Menu > Picture Browser to open the folder for incoming pictures,then drag-and-drop picture files onto CQPhone.
Note: The file must be .jpg, .jpeg, .gif or .bmp and must be less than 2 MB in size.
How to Receive and Save Photos:
When a photo is received, it pops open on your screen and is automatically saved to the folder c:\program files\cqphone\pictures.
Many received photos can be open at once. See "Tips & Tricks" for more advice about sending and receving pictutes.
How to Send Web Pages:
Simply drag-and-drop the address icon from your browser onto the phone. Your partner's browser will open at this page.
How to use Redial:
| · | Click the "Redial" button to see the Redial List.
|
| · | Click any name on this list to dial out to that number.
|
| · | The top name on the list - "Last Call" is always the last number you called.
|
| · | Click "Add" to add the names and CQPhone numbers of your friends.
|
| · | Click "Back" to return to CQPhone normal view.
|
The CQPhone Menu:
Click the "Menu" button to open the menu.
| · | Picture Browser
|
| The picture browser can be used to open pictures on your hard drive.
|
| Once a picture is open, you can send it by using the menu at the top: Picture > Send Now.
|
| · | Volume Controls
|
| This windows has 2 volume controls, once for your speakers and one for you mic.
|
| · | Camera Controls
|
| · | Program Preferences
|
|
|
|
| Keep On Top:
|
| CQPhone will always appear on top of other windows.
|
|
|
| Auto start in tray:
|
| When your computer boots up, CQPhone will automatically load into the system tray and begin listening for calls.
|
| This option will be automatically unchecked if you do not use CQPhone for 30 days.
|
| Note: This option may cause problems if you have a dialup connection.
|
|
|
| Auto show pics/urls:
|
| Incoming pictures will automatically open.
|
| Incoming URL addresses will open you browser to that page.
|
|
|
| Pop up when ringing:
|
| CQPhone will automatically pop up out of tray when someone calls you.
|
|
|
| Ring Normal:
|
| Select the ring sound that you prefer.
|
|
|
|
|
| · | Help
|
| Click this item to open this Help File.
|

There are two ways to remove CQPhone from your computer:
| 1. | Use the Uninstall provided in the Start Menu> Programs> CQPhone
|
| 2. | Use Windows Control Panel> Add Remove Programs.
|
You may see a Windows warning message as the uninstaller attempts to close any CQPhone ports left open in your XP firewall.
